The architect of Bangladesh's independence, Bangabandhu led the historic struggle that birthed a sovereign nation in 1971. His six-point movement, the language movement legacy he carried, and the unifying voice of his 7 March address remain foundational to the political imagination of Bangladesh and its diaspora.

Co-founds the East Pakistan Awami Muslim League.
Announces the historic Six-Point Movement.
Wins a sweeping electoral mandate in Pakistan's general elections.
Declares independence; the Liberation War follows.

Sheikh Hasina

The eldest daughter of Bangabandhu and the longest-serving leader in the Awami League's history, Sheikh Hasina has guided the party and Bangladesh through decades of political and economic transformation infrastructure milestones, digital expansion, and wider women's participation in public life.
