Frequently asked
Things people often ask us
How do I become a member?
Anyone of Bangladeshi heritage residing in Australia is welcome to apply. Membership requires a one-time application fee of $10 AUD and approval from the membership secretary. The signup flow takes around five minutes.
Is the chapter affiliated with the Bangladesh High Commission?
No. ALAustralia is an independent civil-society organisation. We coordinate with the High Commission on matters of community welfare, but operate autonomously and are funded entirely by member dues and donations.
How are committee members elected?
Through a biennial general meeting open to all active members. Nominations open six weeks before the meeting; voting is by show of hands or, where contested, by paper ballot.
